journalist, editor and media consultant
With over 12 years' experience as a journalist, editor, and media consultant I am the Co-Founder of online homes and lifestyle magazine The Home Page. Bringing together features on interiors, family, wellbeing and food, The Home Page looks beyond the trends to dig deeper into the real stories of home and the people who inhabit them. The Home Page also offers a boutique consultancy, crafting compelling content for lifestyle brands to help them tell their stories.
I was previously Editor of the edition magazines portfolio - a glossy monthly luxury lifestyle magazine distributed across London and the Home Counties - and I also write for national newspapers, magazines and websites, as well as creating written content for major brands such as eBay and Mamas & Papas. I have worked as a commissioning editor on the Femail desk at the Daily Mail and as a relaunch consultant for Bauer Media. I specialise in human interest, lifestyle and entertainment features and have a keen interest in interiors and property, travel, food and the arts.
Cutting my teeth on local newspapers in my hometown of Birmingham, I went on to become a reporter at SWNS national press agency in Bristol. On moving to London I worked as a journalist in the newsroom at GMTV and was Showbiz Editor at Reveal magazine, part of Hearst UK, for several years.
I now combine my writing and editing projects with working as an editorial consultant helping to train businesses, charities and PR agencies in how to approach and engage the media. I also take on proofreading and copywriting projects, provide social media training and have produced attention-grabbing commercial copy for a range of organisations.
I have appeared as a regular talking head on regional and national TV and radio shows, including BBC Radio Scotland and Channel 4 News, and I was a member of the voting panel for the BRIT Awards for four years.
I trained at the renowned Cardiff University School of Journalism and am now based in the South East.
